First, I break my femur slipping on ice 2 weeks ago. This means I am stuck at home and not allowed to drive for 6-8 weeks. Although, the pain meds are nice. However, it wouldn't be so bad, if this hadn't just happened...

NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! How am I supposed to pass the time now?! Hoping it starts working again soon. On the bright side, all my computer components will be here by next Wednesday, and I will be able to build my first PC and do some iRacing! Psshhh, docs can't keep me from driving for 6-8 weeks!

Yikes! Isn't a femur a pretty big bone? I just broke a bone (for the first time in my life) around 3 months ago. It was my humerus. The bone healed but the tissue still hurts sometimes. :(

It's the biggest of the bones... aside from, er, well you know the joke. lol Yeah I've broken 6 bones (each arm twice and also small fractures in both my hand and foot) in the past and have had 6 previous surgeries. The surgeries were from congenital cardiac and pulmonary conditions when I was born, and included several open heart surgeries (which is supposed to be a pretty painful surgery, post-op). I have a pretty high pain threshold, but this break was undoubtedly the worst pain of my life. I did what's called a spiral fracture, it begins up on the side (where the femur starts at the connection to your hip) and it comes around to the front and stops about 4in or so above my knee. The surgery required mounting an 11.5 x 1 in plate to my bone. Post-op sucked, but what was really bad is that for about 14-16 hours before my surgery my muscles were going through intermittent spasms over top of the break. That was the absolute WORST pain of my life, and I'm pretty sure everyone on my hospital floor (and possibly the floors above and below mine) are also aware of that fact. lol Luckily, I am already making incredibly progress with physical therapy and will make a full recovery with the plate coming out in about a year.

Unfortunately, not the case. Even if you type .com it will still direct you to .org. I simply typed "craig" into my internet browser and hit enter the first time. ;)

I've had a few surgeries before, and I'd hate to go through that again. I definitely feel for you, man. Hope it doesn't suck too much!

That sucks. As someone who just got to driving again after knee surgery...I know your feels to an extent. I had to stay home a week and a half which was plenties!

When I dislocated my knee cap and tore my mpfl ligmament, I had spasms like that. I had to sit with it out of place for two hours, which is nothing compared to you!

They actually said that only a few injuries are more painful than a kneecap dislocation, and one of them is a femur break. If you were in more pain than me for 14-16 hours....you are the toughest fucker I know.

Good luck in your post op recovery. I myself am three weeks post op knee surgery.

Yeah, I'm nearly a week post op now and the improvement has been phenomenal. Had a physical therapy session yesterday and it's incredibly how much more mobile my left leg is already. 4 days ago there's no way I could sit and lift my leg up in the air, yesterday I did it with relative ease. The no driving for 6-8 weeks is gonna suck though. I just can't wait to build my PC so I can start doing some iRacing! haha
